Lessons Learned from a Lone Traveller

Traveling alone was definitely the biggest leap I have ever taken out of my comfort zone.

Over the weekend, I traveled to Bassnectar's Freestyle Sessions in Colorado for 4 days and 5 nights.

From being a person who never took risks growing up, I have decided to release all limiting beliefs around that.

I learned so much about myself and others that I would not have had I gone with others.

It has been a wonderful opportunity to source myself and interact with new people.

For anyone who has wanted to take the leap, but is holding back, I want to share 11 lessons I learned that have helped me grow as a person over the past few days, which I will be able to use for the rest of my life.

1) Be okay with feeling uncomfortable at times.

Traveling alone can be scary because it brings up all your shadows you have been hiding from. When you're on your own, there's no running from yourself. Gotta deal with that shit!

2) You are your own source for your own fulfillment.

You are the boss. You call the shots! You get to choose how you spend your day and how you want to feel. You are in full responsibility of how you be each moment of every day. Being on your own schedule felt freeing because getting a peaceful night's sleep after a long night of partying is a huge blessing!

3) If you're planning on staying for more than a few days, definitely think about renting a car.

It's quite difficult to see places unless you are willing to front a good chunk of change on Uber/Lyft. My grand total for the weekend was $149.59. As much as I appreciate the people who gave me free rides, nothing beats the freedom of your own car. Being on your own time is one of best things in life that you could ask for!

4) Trust that everything is working out in your favor.

It may seem at times like everything is a mess, but that hot mess comes out way better than what you had planned anyway. Traveling alone allows you to surrender when you don't have anyone else to lean on at a given moment. It makes life feel easier and everything flows so naturally. Being spontaneous releases resistance and allows you to have more fun.

5) You learn who your real friends are.

It's a great opportunity to evaluate who you spend your time and energy on. There is an abundance of people, so it's always easy to find new people who fit your needs.

6) If you are going to a show or music festival, make sure you have at least 3 phone numbers of your friends as well as a meeting spot for after the set.

There is nothing worse than losing your friends after a set and being unable to get a hold of them. This will heavily reduce or eliminate that from happening. If you find that the communication is lacking, make sure to find where the gaps are and speak your mind effectively to get everyone on the same page.

7) For everything lost, you gain something of equal or greater value.

You lose friends. You gain friends. You may hurt some people for following your dreams, but ultimately doing you is the best thing you can do for yourself and the planet.

8) Take the good with the "bad".

There are good days and "bad days". There are only "bad" if you choose to let the "bad" moments overpower your day and take away from everything good that has happened. You took a leap of faith of the highest service to yourself. Be proud simply for that! All of the not so ideal experiences can be used as fuel for even better things to happen! Remember, you are in full control of how you react to any given situation.

9) Be present at all times.

You never know fully what's happening unless you are present. You are in a new location! Take these moments to get the hell off of social media and take a look at what really matters. Life is happening in front of you, not on your phone. Take this as an opportunity to socialize and connect with people.

10) The universe has your back.

Never have I experienced so many miracles in my lifetime. So many people came to my aid to help me out in moments of need. Whether it was a ride, some directions, almost losing my phone at the airport, or a friend, everything was taken care of with flow, surrender, and ease. When you take big risks in alignment with your desires, the universe will align you with the right people at the right place at the right time. The universe wants everything to work in your favor. I am beyond grateful to have been able to receive so much this weekend. It was such a humbling experience!

11) Have fun!

I had to save the best for last. Celebrate your victories! Laugh! Play! Enjoy the fact that you did something most people wouldn't ever dare to do! You are brave, bold, and beautiful just as you are. Go have fun being you and you will receive everything you need!

If you are on the cusp of going on an adventure solo, use this as your calling to do it! Feel free to connect with me on social media. You always have a friend if you need it! 😘
