I'm Rachel and I am passionate about health and wellness.

When I started my senior year of college, I found myself too heavy to fit into clothes I had only bought a few months prior. It was such a radical change in such a short period of time that I was truly alarmed. It was having an effect on my health, my self-esteem and even my wallet! I made a promise to myself to get in shape and never have this happen again.

The next day, I started seeking out dozens of blogs that showed how to make my favorite recipes from scratch with less crap instead of making food from a box. Throughout that year, I taught myself how to cook healthier, train for a half marathon, and lose enough weight to fit back into all my old clothes. However, the half marathon left me with horrible shin splints, which made it difficult to run or even do any other form of exercise!

I soon graduated with a degree in Information Systems and began my career in corporate America. To keep up with my commitment to fitness, I joined my local gym to strength train and began running again. But I was still experiencing pain and felt like I wasn't getting results. Changing my approach and habits seemed imperative. I sought out a trainer specializing in functional, full body movement. Within just a few months of training, my shin pain completely subsided and has not come back at all to this day. My love for fitness really bloomed because I constantly saw my body progressing, which gave me a sense of accomplishment that I have never felt before.

My trainer also introduced me to a holistic health physician because I was experiencing a lot of stress and anxiety in my work. I felt like there was no clear path to the next level of my career, which led me to feel unworthy and unfulfilled. Whenever I saw the holistic health physician, the stress and frustration from work was constantly on my mind and it showed up in every visit. I felt like I was losing my passion for my career and I found myself constantly getting sick because of my stress, acerbated by poor sleep. I realized that a lot of my stress came from the separation of work and personal life. I wanted to figure out a way to integrate health and wellness into my life because I felt like my healthy lifestyle clashed with the 9-to-5 routine.

Then, my employer began doing a company-wide reorganization due to a merger. My current role was no longer going to be a part of the combined company. I took a step back and asked myself if my intentions are truly in IT or elsewhere to see what I wanted to do for the next stages of my career. Knowing that I feel a sense of presence when I work out and cook that I don't experience at my corporate job, I knew that this was no coincidence. I realized that my desire was no longer IT because my intentions weren't truly there.

I shared this realization with my holistic health physician, who introduced me to one of her colleagues. She told me about an online course at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) that she completed to become a health coach. I looked into the course and felt like this course resonates with what I want to do because it would be a way for me to be able to live my life of health and wellness while being able to help others achieve their goals, too. I would be able to live my career instead of having them separate! The next day, I called IIN and signed up for their next course.

The IIN program has not only helped relieve my stress/anxiety triggers, but I can't wait to help many more people heal, just as I've been healing myself! I launched Redefining All Diets to bring all the amazing things I’ve learned and practiced to others who want to make a change and feel better.
